Yo!
On this end this time: Welcome to Haerii!
I have not had the time to go through your story yet but I will do so shortly.
As previously mentioned, unfortunately most of the rules and test thus far on the forum are in French. However pretty much all of the new stuff going forward is in English and this will include stuff meant for you and your interactions with other people's characters/stories etc.
There is a lot to pick up at the beginning even talking purely about rules and stuff like that, but I'm sure you will get the hang of it. Of course, if you have the slightest question about anything, you can post your question in the flood"section of the forum, private message a staff member or pm me on Facebook.
Here is a shotgun of things you should know/keep in mind:
- In "in rp" (in roleplay, the active adventure so to speak) the narration is in the past tense and in italics. When a character speaks, the text is between " " and his thoughts are * *.
- when two player characters interact witch each other outside of combat, it is usually up to the players to accept/deny the other person's actions. If needed, a game master can intervene and offer a third version of a scene as to what actually happened>
Example:
A friendly teases B.
A tosses a banana to B's face. (here A should preferably keep the result of the action open in his post)
B decides whether his character eats the banana to the face. He can say he dodges it or that he eats it to the face for comic effect.
Then 2 things can happen.
The GM is lazy and does not comment on this action (because why the hell would he), OR the GM is an asshole (he usually is) and decides to force an outcome (B dodges, B eats it to the face, B dodges but then tragically slips on the fallen banana peel and dies).
- As a whole, Haerri is a game. A text adventure where the mood switches between anime and game shenanigans to grim fantasy and magical mindfuckery.
- Characters start at level 1 regardless of background (power wise this usually places you as stronger than most random civilians but you still run the risk of getting your ass handed to you by two random goblins you found in an alley).
- Fights are turn based, a lot of them is determined by the stats of your character. Then comes the actions you decide to take and the way you describe said actions, and the scene as a whole. More on that when the time comes.
Aaaannnd that's enough for now! Cheers!
Enjoy your surfing lama!
